Charity Ball 2021 – Glasshouse, Jephson Gardens

O’Brien Trust will be holding our popular Charity Ball event on 15 October at the stunning venue of ‘The Glasshouse’!

Situated in the stunning Grade II English Heritage, Victorian Jephson park and gardens.   The gardens are laid out in a beautiful formal Victorian park in the centre of Leamington Spa.

The Venue

The Glasshouse, opened in 2003, built on the site of a redundant nursery and houses a range of beautiful tropical and temperate plants including banana, pink powder puff and bird of paradise, a goldfish pond, observation beehive and a slate sculpture designed by David Wilson, it is a venue with a difference!

A little Bit of History!

First laid out in 1831 as informal riverside walks, the land was renamed Jephson Gardens in honour or Dr Henry Jephson.  Dr Jephson was a famous doctor who promoted the town as a spa, with the gardens being developed into formal gardens after 1846.

Like many parks, Jephson Gardens fell into slow decline following World War II.  They were restored by Warwick District Council in the early 2000’s with help from a Heritage Lottery Fund Grant of over £3 million.  The gardens are now listed as Grade II on the English Heritage register of historic parks and gardens.

The Gardens

Jephson Gardens is a beautiful formal Victorian park in the centre of Leamington Spa. It’s the perfect place for a relaxing stroll with lots of colourful flowerbeds and interesting sculptures to see (with lot’s of photo opportunities)!
